In my collection, “Plastic Beauty,” I delve into the idealized form of beauty by capturing mannequins in striking black and white. Mannequins, ever-present in fashion displays, represent an ideal form, yet they are nothing more than plastic replicas. Stripping them down to their essential shapes and contours, I reveal a stark simplicity that allows their forms to stand alone as objects of art.
To add depth, I reintroduce color selectively to certain elements, emphasizing the artificial coverings placed upon them—an echo of the allure we project onto these lifeless figures. This juxtaposition of monochrome with splashes of color highlights the contrast between human beauty and its mechanical imitation, inviting both humor and wonder.
“Plastic Beauty” offers an engaging addition to any home or business, bringing both elegance and thoughtful commentary to the space. Each photograph invites viewers to ponder the concept of beauty, its expressions, and its imitators, becoming a striking focal point and a conversation starter.
