Multnomah Falls, located in the Columbia River Gorge, is the tallest waterfall in Oregon. Surrounded by lush vegetation and featuring the historic Benson Footbridge, the falls exude an otherworldly atmosphere, reminiscent of something out of a J.R.R. Tolkien novel.

There's nothing quite like the thrill of photographing waterfalls—hearing the thunderous roar of water plunging 620 feet and feeling the mist swirling around you. As you stand at the base of this magnificent natural wonder, you can feel the power of the falls reverberating under your feet.

I embarked on a four-day trip to the Columbia Gorge during a particularly rainy December in Oregon, fully prepared with rain gear for both myself and my camera. Capturing the image Cascading Beauty at Multnomah Falls was challenging, as I had to continuously wipe mist from the lens to keep it clear. Despite the cold and rain, I was able to photograph one of the iconic scenes I had long envisioned. The experience of braving the elements only added to the satisfaction of finally capturing this breathtaking waterfall.

Ada Covered Bridge in Cheer

The Ada Covered Bridge, also known as the "Bradfield Bridge," is a charming historic structure located in Ada, Michigan. Built in 1867, this 125-foot-long bridge spans the Thornapple River and is one of the few remaining covered bridges in the state. Its unique construction and picturesque surroundings make it a beloved landmark, especially during the winter months when snow blankets the landscape and holiday lights enhance its nostalgic beauty.

While visiting Grand Rapids, Michigan, where I grew up, I stumbled upon the Ada Covered Bridge shortly after a snowfall just before Christmas. To my surprise, the bridge was illuminated with festive Christmas lights, creating a magical scene. I captured the image, which became a personal favorite. One of my close friends admired the photograph so much that they displayed it above their fireplace mantel. Every time I see it in their home, I can’t help but smile, remembering that special moment.
